Master Cigana
Master Cigana is the first female capoeira master. She was born in Rio de Janeiro, but she began capoeira in Belém do Pará, in 1970, with Master Bezerra. In 1975, she visited São Paulo and met Master Canjiquinha, and went with him to Salvador. After five more years of training she graduated to the level of master.

Master Cigana also holds degrees in physical education, philosophy and education.
