Master João Grande
Master João Grande, one of the greatest capoeira masters ever, currently lives in New York, where he teaches his art. He has received an honorable doctorate in recogniztion of his knowledge and work. He was a disciple of Master Cobrinha Verde and the great Pastinha.

Master Canjiquinha said this of João Grande: "It was God who commanded João Grande to play capoeira".
