Master João Pequeno
Master João Pequeno, began capoeira as a student of Master Gilvenson and later became a disciple of Master Pastinha - the father of modern Capoeira Angola. Integrou em 1966 a delegação brasileira no Premier Festival des Arts Nègres, em Dakar (Senegal).

Today at the age of 80, he still maintains a Capoeira studio, no Forte Santo Antônio (the historic center of Salvador). In 1970, Master Pastinha said the following about João Pequeno and João Grande: "They are the new great capoeiristas of the future and that is why I worked and fought with them and for them".
